garage roller door questions and answers
Q: I have a traditional up and over garage door and timber frame, do the roller garage doors require a timber frame to fix to?
A: The Anvil shutters range of garage roller doors does not require a timber frame to fix to; we would prefer to fix our garage roller doors directly to the garage walls for extra strength and security. We try to eliminate the need for a timber garage door frame as timber will require maintenance on a regular basis.
Q: My up and over garage door takes up valuable space within my garage, does a garage roller door need less space so i can make the most of my garage.
A: The design of our garage roller doors enables them to roll into a very small box ranging from 205mm to 305 mm this allows you to free up space in your garage over head, there are also no over head tracks leaving the garage walls and ceiling areas clear
Q: I am having trouble lifting my existing manual up and over garage door so i would like to replace the door for a lighter garage door can you help?
A: lighter garage doors are not normally the answer these are often poorly made and weak in construction and don’t last as long. We would recommend that you opt for the electric operation garage roller door; the door glides up and down at the touch of a key or remote control with no effort on your part.
Q: My car only just fits on to my drive i have a up and over type garage door, if i want to open it i have to move my car out to the pavement and then put it back again, will I need to do the same with a garage roller door.
A: The garage roller door works in a different way to an up and over garage door, the roller garage door will travel straight up, you can park right up to the door and providing you are not touching the garage door the door will operate with out damaging the car or the door.
Q: My up and over garage door was recently subject to a break-in what benefits security wise does a garage roller door provide.
A: Our range of electric garage roller doors have been made with security in mind, the garage roller door is housed in a box the door travels down into side runners until it hits the floor, then inside the garage roller door box there is auto locking devices that stop the door being lifted up from the bottom. These locks are not on show and are automatic so thieves cant get to them, the garage door is mounted with-in guides when it is down, to prevent the door being folded in half unlike most of the older type garage doors that are already fitted.
Q: My old up and over garage door recently failed on a Saturday and i was unable to find an up and over garage door repair company to get it open for me at the weekend do roller doors often fail and if i have a new roller door fitted what after sales service do i get.
A: our roller garage doors don’t fail very often there are several product control tests in operation to prevent failure including, full electronic tests of all motors and remote control systems before they are sent out, that is in addition to checks on all sizes of made up components. With these in place there are very occasionally problems that occur but the advantage of using anvil shutters is that with our unrivalled and dedicated 24 hour a day 7 day a week repair teams available we will be at hand to resolve any problems that may arise including weekends.
